What triggered it

How we challenged the brief
We agreed a fixed fee and a realistic build budget up front, and resisted the temptation to over-glaze — one well-placed roof light did the heavy lifting on light.
The design solution
A side-return infill plus a modest rear extension, opening the ground floor into a bright kitchen-diner with a clear sightline to the garden.
