How we challenged the brief
They had ambitious plans that would have struggled in the AONB. We reshaped the design to sit quietly in the landscape — which the planners welcomed and which actually framed the sea view better.
The design solution
A modest single-storey extension with robust, weather-appropriate materials and a large window placed to capture the view, designed to meet the island's AONB expectations.
Approved first time
Approved without fuss, built to handle the coastal weather, and a living space the couple now spend every morning in.
